Gilbert’s Water Tower Plaza is located in the heart of Downtown Gilbert's Heritage District.
This 0.7 acre park area opened in 2008 and is home to a variety of events throughout the year. It's also the perfect place take a break and enjoy the sights and sounds of Gilbert's bustling downtown district.
The park forms a plaza surrounding the historic Gilbert Water Tower and Historic Adobe Pump House, formerly Gilbert's first jail.
It features a shaded splash pad, a grassy area that's perfect for picnics, water wall and photo opportunity, a large floating granite ball, and several seating areas.
Gilbert has 135 miles of trails, including 54 miles along canals. From running and walking to biking, fishing and more, SRP and city partners have designed and constructed paths along the canals that offer everything from ADA-accessible routes and lights for evening strolls to commissioned public artwork.

Festive Filaments
When improving Hearne and Vaughn, Gilbert utilized the opportunity to give a nod to its heritage. The circular pattern is meant to mimic cotton, while the lined design represents hay, two crops that were grown in the Heritage District long ago.
The changing lights above Hearne Way are a "reflection" of the circles below, providing a unique atmosphere along the curbless street.
To enhance the experience even further, the Hearne Plaza Garage, which features a clock tower, is uplit to match the light rotation colors in the street.
HD SOUTH – Home of the Gilbert Historical Museum is a nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to preserving, sharing, and celebrating the rich heritage and evolving story of Gilbert, Arizona. Established in 1982 and housed in the town’s original elementary school built in 1913, HD SOUTH is the proud steward of Gilbert’s past while serving as a dynamic community hub for art, culture, education, engagement, and inspiration.
